Robert D James

From the filmmaker:

Robert D. James is a fictional tale depicting the final step of a real life genius's climb back into the public eye, and more importantly glory. Having disappeared after achieving one of the greatest feats in chess history, Robert has decided to face one more test to prove he is ready to make his comeback before playing the biggest game of his life.

The story touches on the contrasts between the young champion being interviewed for the world, and the man fighting to regain the respect he once so easily commanded.

After making the decision to play again, Robert comes across an article highlighting the 'New Speed Chess Champion of Hoboken, New Jersey...Adrian Shah.'

Robert has not stepped up to play someone in so long, but he must face the personal demons he has been running from since having left all those years ago.

Robert begins to fall back into the ways that made him the best player in the world by practicing against his toughest opponent, himself. He is now ready to meet the man they call the best.
